Congratulations! It is super-exciting no matter how many times it happens!

We just got the first egg from one of our 5-month old Silkies yesterday. She looked at it like, "what the heck is that"????? :)
HAHA thats great! My hen adopted a grape as her child once cause she was said she didn't have an egg. i gave it to her as a treat and she pushed it under her for safe keeping🤣 One of my other hens finally ate it after a few days. My poor hen was sad LOLL

Alright, alright... so as long as she lays by 11:59pm on Monday, I win hahahahahahaha

As you should... they are 1000000% adorable. Your girls are the fluffiest balls of feathers I've ever seen. I tried to include a partridge cochin to my new chick order but they wouldn't hold one for 1 week, and the others weren't available the week before. booooooooooooooo

Editing this to say(confess): I definitely just emailed them like a psycho begging them to add the Partridge cochin to my order even though they already said no. :jumpy
didn't you say 4 days? so you have till 11:59pm sunday. LOL (think you forgot she is a stubborn girl................) haahahahahaha

Oh that is mean of them!!!!!!!!! There is always next spring. :) the fluff balls of feathers are so cute but sure don't give a variety of egg colors. I will have a few (hopefully) shades of tan, and my barely tinted blue that looks pretty much white. LOL I am REALLY considering getting a cream legbar next year so I can have really pretty blue eggs at least, plus they do look really cute when I looked them up. It is soooooooo hard knowing I can only fit 8 more in my coop (max) trying to figure out what to get. I know 100% I have to get at least one Sicilian Buttercup (that lays white eggs) since that is the one that passed away at 9 weeks and was my daughters favorite (may get 2 and then give 1 away if both make it), and I REALLY want to hatch some cochins in hopes of getting a splash cochin pullet, and I want a buff brahma, and another EE...... so that is 4 out of my 8 right there if I only keep 1 of each of those....... Think I just need a bigger coop, but thinking my husband would NOT agree with that. haahaa.

OMG now that is too funny!!!!!!!

@junior67 Well, crap, you're right. I hope Annabelle puts on her egg-laying pants tomorrow LOL

Also... bigger coop is definitely the solution to this chicken math dilemma. Just a little bigger... to fit like 20 more chickens....
I wish we could do that big. We were going to do 4x8 for 8 chickens and I talked my husband into an 8x8 for 16. Thinking that will be all I get. Lol

nothing from Annabelle today. she walked in the coop a couple times but just to dig around (I had put some scratch in there the other day so they would dig up and turn over the shavings. LOL) but she didn't even go near the nest boxes. I am telling you it is still going to be forever. LMAO!

It's just....... I also remember saying that Annabelle works in "business days" okay? So technically I have until 11:59PM on Tuesday for her to lay that egg... :woot

I lost notification on this thread somehow. So my girls have been laying all summer now my brahma stopped(she was molting but she is done now) do you know if she will start laying again? The funny story with my brahma is she was suppose to be a buff brahma. And then she turned out to be a brahma.

How old is she? When did she start molting/stop laying?

Editing to say... also, welcome back to our crazy thread!
