so she doesn't like to follow the rules
I adore her. She's such a baddie LOL

wow on getting off the roost to go lay it
My thought exactly! I was so surprised she found her way to a nest box in the darkness!!!

For Nugget and Hummer... maybe soft molting?? Slowing down just a little then now picking back up? That's really exciting that Nugget is on day 4 in a row!!!

I think just where it is winter so not as much light and I don't give any extra light. Figure I want them to do what is natural for them.

Hummer was in the nest box at 6am before anyone else got up. Lol. And out before 6:45

And I lied. I reweighed Nuggets eggs since I could not remember yesterday. Most of hers are 44/45g. Here and there they will be 46/47. Hummers are around 47-49g.

You called it, you know your girls! :highfive:

When she had just started they were around 33-35g, right? I think Speedy is in the same situation. In the last 4 days(including this morning) since Speedy resumed laying... her eggs were 33g, 34g, 37g and 39g. Dottie's 2nd egg this morning was 41... up from 38 yesterday!

yes hers were in the low 30's at first I think. They were TINY! Same with Hummer but Hummers seemed to go up little by little till she is at the high 40 range, well she went up like 32 a week later 34 etc. then jumped a bit more. Nugget seemed to stay for weeks at the same size then jump up a bit then weeks etc.

Wow Dottie is jumping quick but seems speedy is too with hers going up each day! Nice! I think the EE and SF are both med layers so I don't think theirs will get all that big. I can't remember on Cochin or Brahma but think they are large so hopefully my next group will be a bit bigger.

It is funny how you learn their habits when you can and do watch them all the time. Right now I only have a cam in the coop but want one for the run soooooo bad! Even my normal partner in crime (my older daughter) says I don't need one there! Brat. haahaa. she is normally on my side with chicken things. :) My youngest daughter loved the chicks when they were babies but has zero interest now. :(

You definitely need a run cam. I set one up on the far side and caught those couple run-eggs right before they stopped laying! If I hadn't seen it happen they would have been pecked open and eaten.

Plus it's good for like... seeing if predators come around at night. I've caught racoon, fox and coyote lurking around!!!

Maybe she'll come back around. You know how we think certain things are the most important in the world around that age... my only daughter is 15, she likes to go sit out with the chickens and give them mash, etc. My boys don't really care so much anymore. LOL

speedy is too with hers going up each day!
I hadn't weighed hers before the incident... I just knew they were small. It's interesting to see that maybe she is still making them bugger, slowly haha. I think it just looks worse because I see them next to Zoingos crazy eggs. I should probably cut her some slack!
