It's so cool how we are waiting for first eggs!

I'm so excited to be getting eggs again. Blackie & Dottie laid eggs in a nest together this morning as well. Blackie's egg is a really pretty color, darker than it has been! Dottie's egg is slightly bigger than yesterday again. View attachment 2897633

Brittany went into 3 nest boxes and then still made her own nest and laid in the under-roost corner again... the teenager pullets ate it

so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh no on her going under the roost again and the pullets eating it. You had to have wanted to cry! Hopefully she figures out the nest box soon and starts laying there.

I was hoping for the first egg today for my birthday, too late in the day I am sure. BUT....The OverEZ coop was put together this morning. Charlotte went in the new coop to explore and went in each nest box. The others had no interest.

glad one went in and woohoo on the new coop. Hopefully tomorrow you get some eggs!

I just can't believe it! Zoingo laid back there once... Moon laid her first egg in a corner like that, but they all adopted the nest boxes... Brittany is just a stubborn girl. I don't want her to get into this habit and lose a bunch of eggs.

I finally saw what is meant by squatting. I'm the one with the 3 cuckoo maran moochers. Well, I was in parent teacher conferences late earlier in the week so I got home way after dark. Yesterday I was walking with them around the yard and noticed Mean Charolette (nick name soup) had a comb that grew. I reached down to try and pet her... there it was "the squat." So is it going to happen soon? Her comb is twice as big as her sisters.

I was driving last night and missed this completely. That's so exciting that you're on squat watch! Junior is on watch as well with Annabelle. Eeks! New pic of your one girl that's squatting??

Shes right there!!! Especially with her going into the box today I'm super confident that it will be any day now!
