IT HAPPENED!!!

Looked at my app. Annabelle took 2 days off on Dec 5 which she normally doesn't do and only laid 2 before that. She mainly does 3 a day off, 3 etc. But has done a 2 here and there but the 2nd day off is odd. But her eggs are much rounder normally and more pink.

Nugget has been doing 6 in a row before a day off and yesterday would have been her 6th day and she didn't lay. Maybe after her run around with the dog it stressed her so she didn't go in the box? It is a bit thinner and darker than her normal ones but maybe stress for thinner and darker is dirt? Guess I will see if she lays today since I don't think she has ever taken 2 days in a row off

Let me know who ends up laying today - I'm so curious! It really doesn't look like it would belong to either of them... but like you said, between not seeing Itzy with them, and this only being the 2nd time... I would THINK you would have seen more around if you had a rogue layer involved hahaha

I looked back in Nov and Annabelle did take 2 days off when the other mystery run egg showed up. So maybe it has been out there since Dec 5 and they are both hers? But they are soo different from her eggs. Maybe she lays them in the run because either they surprise her or she is struggling? But doesn't explain color....

Here are screenshots of the app for Annabelle and Nugget for Nov and Dec. Mystery eggs were found Nov 27, and Dec 21. But no clue when laid as I said yesterday's seemed to have been unburied or whoever did it made a nest to lay in???

Ginger laid an egg in the run again today (which is funny to me because she did this around when you found your last run egg LOL).

LOL on Ginger. Well one of my girls is talking to her so maybe she will tell you who it is! haahaa

Mine don't do ghost eggs anymore. the only one that did was Nugget and she stopped. The times I think Annabelle may have I normally find it in the coop right outside the nest box so either if pops out with her, gets stuck to her fluffy butt, or she finishes laying as she is jumping out. not sure which. haahaa

Yes it was darker even before I washed it but it was also REALLY dirty since we have had rain and sleet so the run is a bit of a mess. I use my lawn "debris" in my run, so in the summer/spring I use grass clippings and the fall I used the leaves. The top layer is dry but under it is a bit of a mess and it was laid in the HWC roof part so that is where it is bad. And as I said it was either dug down for a "nest" or they were digging around (they were sunbathing in holes all over yesterday) and unburied it.... not sure what. It definitely does NOT look close to Annabelles with the shape and color but both times "around" when it was found she had a 2 day break, which have been the only times she has done a 2 day break. Well one was right before this one was the beginning of the month but who knows may have been there since then. It shall remain a mystery unless I start finding them more often..... or Santa brings me another camera for my run. LOL
