IT HAPPENED!!!

Thinking maybe Marshmallow laid her first egg today??? It is so hard to tell them apart on the camera! UGH! Well even kind of in person too.... But here is what I know and why I think maybe Marshmallow laid today.

Saturdays egg was a pretty dark brown, had a bit of blood on it and was 65g. It was laid at 1pm. . Can't remember if there was an egg song or if I had volume on.


no egg on Sunday

Mondays egg was pretty dark brown, no blood on it was 70g. laid around 12:15. maybe a short quiet egg song in the box

Todays egg seems a bit lighter brown, had a bit of blood on it, is a bit shorter than the last 2, was 63g and laid around 11:10am (so that is only 23 hrs from yesterdays?) a very LOUD egg song as she was coming out of the box and the whole way to the door and outside..

so what do you think? 2 different layers? Hard to tell the little color difference but here is a pic. Egg from Sat, Mon and Tue

almost positive both Rosie and Marshmallow are laying. I ended up putting blue food coloring on Marshmallows head (just a small stripe) so I can see if it is her in the nest box when I look on the camera. I believe she is the one I saw come out yesterday. She was not the one in today. I am betting she will be tomorrow.

But I have gotten eggs on Sat, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs and Fri from the 2 of them (that is part of why I think both are laying). Think Rosie was Sat, Mon, Wed and Fri (know for sure she was today). And Marshmallow laid her first on Tue then laid Thurs. Both eggs are big. Marshmallows have been 63 both times. Rosies were 65,70, 63 and 70.

well Ditzy is starting to check out the nest boxes. She has gone in a couple times today, with Itzy going with her then leaving once she steps into the box. haahaa! She doesn't stay long and then comes back out so far. Funny since I haven't seen Fajita checking them out at all and she has a bigger redder comb and wattles. Ditzy's are starting to get redder but are still on the small side. So guess we see which one lays first. They are my last 2 that I am waiting to start laying! They turn 11 mo on March 8th!

I was going to say by the looks of those eggs, I'd guess the last one came from a different girl. I've found that shape is more telling to me than size since they can vary a bit day to day, especially in the beginning... I REALLY like the color of the eggs these new girls are laying! Go Rosie & Marshmallow! I bet your egg basket is really beautiful with these different shades added

They are getting HUGE!!!! I'm gonna take new pics tomorrow to share. They are making good quacks and have so many real feathers now... I can't believe my babies are becoming real ducks

It is funny Marshmallows first 3 eggs were all 63g, then she had a 64, then a 65.

Rosies have bounced between 60-70g. But Rosie has laid the last 3 days in a row (well Sun, Mon and Tue!) I was not expecting that at all. She was every other day and Marshmallow is still every other day for now.

How are all your girls doing? All back to their regular scheduled laying program? LOL
