It's appearing on all of my hens

Welcome To BYC

What country are you from?

Sorry no one has answered your question.

I would suspect that you may be dealing with Fowl Pox if you have a lot of mosquitoes.
This may be the start and you will begin to see more bumps or lesions/scabs on the combs and wattles. Hopefully not. If it gets worse, then paint any scabs/bumps with Iodine to help them dry up.

Right now, they (the lesions/bumps) don't look too bad, so you can leave them and see if they worsen or go ahead and use the Iodine.

Birds look alert, bright, well fed and in pretty good condition. Much better than most battery type hens I've seen in the Western World.

Keep us posted on how they get along.
Oh, thank you very much.

I live in Eritrea/ in Africa.
You're right, I haven't received any help. I'll do just that. I've separated some of them and taken pictures, so I'll see what happens in 2-3 days. If I notice any more swelling or if it gets bigger, then I'll use the iodine.
Thank you very much...I will.

I have no idea what is going on with their faces, but I can tell you sorrythat with how you are keeping them, they will have many problems down the line. Depression, violence, illness, etc. You cannot keep them in that area.
Thank you.. I have no idea what you're talking about either, but I can ALSO tell you that if some people don't keep chickens the way they are kept here, or worse, the people—not the chickens—will face many problems down the line: depression, violence, illness...
Thank you for the help.

Welcome!

Let us know how they get along.

If you don’t have better conditions for them then why have them? What you’re doing to them makes life absolutely miserable for them…
You don’t seem to understand. These chickens aren't kept as a hobby or for the sake of keeping them. The lifestyle you're accustomed to is so detached from the realities of others that you fail to recognize that, in different circumstances, these animals are essential for improving living conditions and standards.

Your baseline lifestyle is supported by resources so distant from these fundamental needs that you can't grasp how crucial these animals are for survival. I'm sorry.

What on earth are you talking about? How disconnected from reality must you be to think like this? There are people who can't even afford to keep chickens in these conditions. These are not pets.

Your immediate life has nothing to do with your chickens.... they simply exist because of your luxurious lifestyle.

There are people who have to slaughter their chickens daily and sell them on the street just to survive. Do your chickens have anything to do with your survival or feeding your family?
I also didn’t mean to offend. I understand that you have to do what you need to do to live/feed your family 100%. Chickens are used for meat and eggs but some of them have them for pets as well but I understand that sometimes that isn’t possible. Wishing you the best 🐔❤️

Why would you say such a thing, my friend? If we had a better place, I’d choose that, but this is the best we have right now.

You’d be surprised..this is actually one of the best conditions compared to others.
If you need help finding a better spot with the materials you have available, you can always ask, and the people here will help with ideas (they are super good, youd be surprized). Sorry, I was not trying to say you are bad. Some people just don't know better and do have resources, and I wasn't sure if you were one of them.

I also didn’t mean to offend but you asked “what is this on my hens” and I’m asking which part? We all gave you reasons why this may be happening and it’s great that you want to treat it but I don’t think you’re wanting to prevent it. I understand other cultures do things differently. People in first world countries also keep them for food but ensure their quality of life is acceptable beforehand. So I believe people are trying to be helpful and not offensive. Good luck.

I Just wanted to thank you for answering this question without being rude, disrespectful, or condescending. I get really flustered when I see people picking people apart on social media over things that they usually literally have zero context for. It makes the atmosphere one where people are scared to ask questions for fear of being chastised. I dont agree with it. So seriously, thank you for being so kind and helpful!

And I do agree- the hens look very healthy. Feathers and combs are much better then other production/battery birds I've seen here I. The US
