People around here don't litter for the most part which is GREAT! But when I lived in Md people considered the side of the road their personal dumpster/ toilet. One day I saw two young men throw a bunch of fast food waste out the window in front of me. I stopped, picked it up, caught up to them and followed them back to their nice development. When they got out of the car I yelled and I threw it at them and scared them a bit. Pretty stupid I guess, I could have gotten injured. Much younger and hot headed then.
I live on a county road and pick up litter twice a year--ticks me off. When my older son was about 15 he called and asked me to come get him. This was rural. He opened the window and tossed out a soft drink can. I immediately stopped the car and said, "pick it up or the car is not moving!" He did, but what really ticked me off was that I taught the boys from day one not to litter. Any paper went into their pockets as a small child and disposed of later.
Dad had a fastidious aunt and, yep, she rolled down the window of my car and before she could swing her arm I took the bottle and said I would dispose of it later. The woman was a cleaning freak in her house and yard. Don't think I will ever figure out human behavior.

Only if is Mother Nature's trash... limbs, leaves, etc.
Otherwise, someone else is the litterbug & Mother Nature is just brining it to you in hopes that you'll clean it up for her.
(That's very nice of you, by the way!)
Burns my butt up when I see tires, refrigerators, microwaves etc..in the creeks and rivers...come on people..you really don't realize what you are doing to the environment...PLEASE!!!
And then on the news a few months back...someone tied 2 old horses that they didn't want any longer...tied them to a small bridge where a creek ran through...not on top of the bridge...under the bridge in the water in the cold and the there was a thaw which raised the water till they nearly drowned...someone saw them in the water and they were rescued...
There really are some twisted folk out there roamin around!!
ARGH! I totally feel your pain! We live across the street from a trail that leads down to a reservoir that is popular with people that fish. They park right in front of our house and side yard. People will come back to their cars and just leave fast food drink cups and stuff on the sidewalk!
The side yard is fenced about half the way up to our driveway. There is another privacy fence that set backs about fifty feet from the road, so you can CLEARLY see that it is part of our yard (not to mention all the landscaping and rose bushes).
People will bring their dogs up to poop in our side yard! It is just infuriating sometimes. We went out to get the mail the other day (the box is directly in front of our house). There were several large piles of dog poop right there by the mailbox now! So irritating.
My daughter when she was little used to yell at people.."Don't litter on mother earth!" They would look and see this sassy 4 year old and laugh. She would say," you won't be laughing if you don't pick that up" I would be hiding behind a bush cause it was always 6ft 4 , 230lb men...LOL
The worst is when the trashy neighbors moved out after being evicted and a homeless woman went through their trash. Next day a windy storm came blowing papers everywhere. So i go out running , picking them up to realize they are checks. Like 10 different names and accounts. SAY WHAT??
So i call the cops and they aren't even real....counterfiet!!!
I must have looked like such a dork when the cops said that! Here i am thinking i am getting trash off the street only to realize it was evidence.

I'll tell you something - all that stuff that people through out, we used to build our coops. We go out looking all the time and have found chicken wire, fencing, posts, boxes, plywood slabs, baling wire, construction netting (great for covering the top), bales of hay, etc. Amazing what people throw out.

I wish it was just branches and stuff - the goats would take care of that! But alas, it is trash too.
