I've never had a fresh egg before, especially not my pets egg....

I was so excited to get our fresh eggs and I had never even seen a chicken in real life before and was afraid to touch my chicks LOLOL Now I can't put them down!
BUT when we first started looking online about the health benefits of the fresh eggs rather then the store eggs, there was NO hesitation at all and we were all excited. Just google Farm fresh eggs vs store eggs and so some research, you won't hesitate any longer. PLUS your no longer going to be assisting those factories who stuff those hens into tiny cages and cut off their beaks

Just do some googleing and you will change your mind very quickly. I can't even take FREE store eggs anymore after seeing what I have seen

Just SO sad!

Be sure to know whats in your store bought eggs, (an example would be tons of antibiotics) and how the hens are treated. Lot of people would rather not know, but I say it's our responsibility to know where our food is coming from... especially if we have children.

OH and try cooking one of each (store egg and fresh egg) you will NEVER want to go back

OH SO GOOD! Ours are all free ranging...when we just fed them feed there was still a little difference but the free ranging eggs are a HUGE difference compared to the store ones! Just know that the orange look instead of the yellow look in the yolks is all the extra nutrition in them

I had to buy store bought this week, I freaked out! Really to cook I needed eggs and my egg gal was on vacation and her hubby is gone for 2 weeks. She lives 69 miles away and dang if I miss them eggs! I can not wait to have my fresh eggs, oh man I'm going to cry lol.

I don't every remember having farm fresh eggs in my life till I got my first chickens back in March. Now I can not stand to eat a store bought egg. The difference is off the charts. Like last night I used a store bought(yes I have to buy some at times) and a farm fresh one for my fired rice and the color difference was a eye opener.
Farm Fresh(1 day) = orange yolk, firm whites
Store bought(who really knows) = yellow yolk, runny whites.

I'm right there with ya! My baby girls are so spoiled! I love them with everything in me.. My husband says they eat better than he does! LOL! I have been saving mine.. I have 7 now.. I plan on having a wonderful breakfast on Sunday morning with my hubby and son.. However the thought of eating them makes me feel kinda wierd too.. but I'm gonna do it anyway!!

Just one tip: If you're going to eat them boiled, then give them a few weeks in the refrigerator to "age" first because fresh eggs are almost impossible to peel once boiled. (At this point there are going to be people that will argue and give lots of ways to overcome this but most aren't as reliable as waiting a few weeks. )

This piece of information would have been so nice to have before I tried to peel mine yesterday for tuna and egg salad....LOL Boy did I sturggle, saying a few choice words along the way!!! LOL

Thanks for the info

Just give in and try them - I promise you won't regret it. I will not eat grocery store eggs.

. I used to think I couldn't eat eggs because my stomach would hurt the rest of the day. My fresh eggs don't do that to my stomach. I now eat an egg or 2 almost every day. I cook them differently, right now it's hard boiled on my salad.

You can also google battery hens, and you'll see the conditions chickens have to live in to give us eggs at the grocery store.

If you let the water boil first, then ladle the eggs in, cook for how long you like (I do 16 minutes), then plunge them immediately in ice water and let them cool completely - then they are a breeze to peel. I've cooked them fresh from the coop without any problems peeling.

WOW!!! Best breakfast ever! I can't believe the difference in taste and colors of the yolks between a fresh egg and a store bought! EEEEWWW store bought!!

I took a picture of one of each, the one on top is our egg, the other pale one is the store egg.. So glad I decided to eat them, I'll NEVER go back! LOL!!!

YUM....I am eagerly awaiting my first one! Right now I get them from a friend right now...mine are 16, 18 weeks along....

Cook one of each and you'll never go back to store bought. I've turned into an egg snob. Our family has been exclusively backyard eggs since March. We visited my wife's family out of town and I used the last of our eggs during breakfast on the 2nd morning but I hadn't eaten yet. I begrudgingly used their store bought. This is the first store bought that I've eaten that I know of that wasn't cooked into a bread or other dish. Talk about a harsh difference. They were pale and tasteless.

Backyard eggs are an addiction.
