Hello from Texas!! After 29 years of asking my husband for chickens he surprised me on my birthday with a stack of backyard chicken books and told me I "let's do this!" I'm excited beyond belief and as nervous as a broody hen. I ordered my babies in February, the minimum order was 8 and our city allows 5 so I found someone with a pet flock that would take 3. I got 2 white cochins, 2 australorps and 4 wyandottes. I kept all but 3 wyandottes. They are 5 weeks old, we are on brooder number 2 and in process of building a coop and a yard for them. Looking forward to what the future holds!

Congratulations! You will find lots if great info on this site. I got my first flock of 5 last spring, I waited YEARS before I had a yard big enough to hold a bit-o-chickens. I have 3 girls, one is an australorp who is the best chicken ever. Good layer, hardy and very sweet to us and her flock mates. Good luck!
