Janoel Incubation Experience

I set dark barred Plymouth rocks and gold laced Wyandottes. I forget which eggs are which so its a bit of a mystery as to what I've got left

. My first ever chicken hatch, only ever hatched Pekin ducks these are eggs I bought locally. Awesome we will have a hatch along lol, day 21 is Saturday for me.

so fun!

I pick up eggs on Sunday and refill the bator. It's official, I'm addicted.

I'll be setting Chocolate , spangled and gold laced orpingtons.

Orpintons are my thing!

I have lots of cheeping!.. Late day 19 so looks like I'm gunna have an early hatch. The loudest chick has pipped on the wrong end of the egg though... completely out of the air cell. It is peeping very well though so is still alive and has oxygen

Are you using the automatic egg turner in the janoel8-48 to hatch these? Just wondering because I've never used it due to it turning back to where it was before after every 2 hours. Thanks!

I would just like to add to this thread to say that I have the knock-off version of this bator and appear to have about the same issues as the 'genuine' Janoels. Hygrometer on the unit reads low and the temp fluctuates, but bumping the setting up to 38.0-38.1 seems to keep consistent average. I currently have 8 Swedish duck eggs and 3 turkeys in mine on day 14. Tossed 4 infertile ducks on day 7 and one turkey. Have lost 2 more that failed to develop. 2 turkey eggs are questionable at this point.

The odd thing that did happen is the factory settings reset on me yesterday morning. I had lowered humidity alarm also, and increased the temp a bit. No idea why it reset, no power flickers or anything, no digital clocks flashing throughout the house. Anyone else have this experience?

Now, my daggum power just went out!! Luckily I'm on a tablet, with internet sharing on my phone, so I hope this posts~ haha

Wish me luck!

Oh, my bottom is a little different, channels are parallel. I'll post a pic when I can.

As I said a few posts ago, I thought the same thing, but in fact the turner rests just a little before where it was .

Run your turner for a day and check in on it. you will see it changing slowly.

I had no stuck eggs this last time. The turner worked great.

I WILL, however, do very low humidity for the first 18 days. I have purchased a MEADE hygrometer/thermometer to use as my plumb line. I stayed between 37.7 and 37.8 last time and my chicks were early.

that's my Olive egger!
Everyone cheeping about....

Thanks
