January 2020 Hatch along

I sort of hope it comes out early then because Brahma chicks are some of the CUTEST things ever.

Here are the two that came out last hatch from that farm they're Brahma mixes and I'm obsessed with them. I think the white one is a cockerel though

My first setting is due to hatch next Wednesday and another bunch the following Sunday. I'm about to set about a dozen more today so I'll candle a little later to see if there are any absolute clears.

I'm adding more too once I see how my other ones are. I think several died. They were free eggs plus the person didn't know how to handle the eggs so I think that has a lot to do with it.

My other eggs all look really good

1 hatched, 13 pipped, 4 still no signs...fingers crossed for more chicks within the next hour or so

I pulled 4 more eggs from the free eggs. They had chicks in them not fully formed and mold I assume bacteria got in and killed these chicks.

I checked all the other eggs and they were good.

I need to get some sort of basket to put in the incubator to keep the chicks away from my other eggs that will hatch 2 weeks from now.

Hi, all! My Silverudd's Blue and Olive Egger (SB x FBCM) eggs just went into lockdown. I'm trying a hatching basket constructed of hardware cloth and a mesh top to contain the OE chicks. Hoping it works to keep the two groups separate until I can band the OEs.

I need to get bands tomorrow so I know which are from the free eggs since I told him I'd give him cockerels from them. I don't want to get rid of chicks from the other eggs I have by accident.

So the internally pipped chick is definitely coming out soon! Maybe tomorrow I'm so excited!
