January 2020 Hatch along

Pics
It sucks because I see some Blue Partridge Brahma eggs on EBay that i am ITCHING to get, but I've never done shipped eggs before, and sadly those eggs aren't cheap. Its such a gamble, in a way. I still want to try it out, but I guess time will tell..
I wanted Crested Cream Legbar eggs, but they aren't cheap and I can't quite tell myself to spend a chunk of money on shipped eggs that may or may not hatch.

It so exciting to see what everyone is setting! I should pop into these chats more often... :duc

View attachment 1996418 I just set these eggs in, theyre all barnyard mixed! And I'm super excited to see what comes out of my blue and green eggs.

Good luck you guys :D
Wow, you have beautiful eggs!

I like barnyard mix eggs the most I think! That's what I've been hatching every hatch so far and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Thank you!!!
And yea! Especially when you have some many different breeds out in the coop. My last hatch gave me some really pretty looking chicks! Its like a box of chocolates you know.. ;) haha genetics are everywhere.

Here are a couple pics of a few of my last mixes

Exactly :hit if you haven't looked already, sometimes on your craigslist you have some breeders selling chicks and CCL. I sometimes see a few locals offering those as chicks or roos. Worth a peek?

I have a jersey giant cockerel that makes gorgeous chicks.

Here's a jersey giant/Delaware cross

There are swaps coming up in March so I'll definitely be picking up some chicks then. I know CCLs will be there so I'll get a few so I can cross them with my jersey giant. There's also another massive farm swap in May that I've never gone to and I'm going to buy then too.

Husband just text me telling me someone already put in an order for chicks :thThese chicks haven't even hatched and everyone wants them!

Oh how nice! I'd love to see how large they get with jersey giant genes in the mix. Especially with Brahma!
Yeah me too. The Jersey giant crosses were hatched on Halloween. The Brahma mixes were hatched the week before Thanksgiving.

I had more of the Jersey giant cross, but somebody bought 20 of them from me on New year's Day. I had some that I wanted to keep, but I sold them to them because I can always make more.

Speaking of swaps I definitely gotta check out info for local swaps near me. I never knew that they were so popular? They definitely are charming, especially with their crests. I had some kind of a legbar mutt(?) Or regular, but he was really red. We don't have him anymore, but he was charming! (At least I think he was a legbar)

The swaps where I live are very popular. There are a lot of chicken people where I live. It's really nice to meet people at them and get contacts.
