I had this purple egg from a maran and it didn't hatch, this was from last winter though...and never got another purple.

I checked my incubator eggs and have my first pip, I will check again with pics in the AM...

That purple egg is BEAUTIFUL!! Oh, I would've been so upset that didn't hatch. I feel for you. It's so unusual and pretty!

My daughter is pet sitting for a neighbor. She gets to keep the eggs for the duration. I can’t believe the colors in their egg basket! The light brown egg is actually pink in person. Lucky neighbors!View attachment 3201300

Are they fertile eggs? If so, you know what that means…

1 is better than none...my last hatch was worse I've ever had and got none of the ones I really wanted!

But I just sold 4 of em today so I'll be doing this again soon as we get back from our 30th anniversary trip! Whoohooo! Can't believe DH said I could...again!

First baby! A pretty little Blue Birchen Marans! This is the one I named "Mumble" after the penguin on Happy Feet because it was moving around in the egg so much. She's a talker! 10 others pipped!

The other eggs have pips, I had 2 blue quitters. Don't feel bad, I get my shipped chicks in 1 hr, and I have plenty of blue layers at the moment.

Of the eggs I had 9 fertile, of those 7 made it to lockdown (I had one I still had hopes for at lockdown, but I was sure it would not make it.) And one blue one that pipped her inner shell but not the outer. So of my 6 viable, 5 pips and 1 out. Day 21 this afternoon.

Up to 3 babies! A lavender and 2 blue marans. Super bummed I don't have a black one yet...really hope the next one out is black. Still waiting on 2-3 more eggs to pip, but I'm not worried. Day 21 doesn't start til 4pm.
The first egg to pip, a lavender, hasn't hardly done anything and I found it pipped yesterday morning at 8:30. Should I start being concerned? I think it may have missed the air cell with its first pip, but then it made another right along the line I had drawn tracing it. Should I have counted that as the actual pip?
