I fear I might lose a maran, too. Gave her some human electrolytes and egg yolk. She's very sleepy, and her legs don't seem to work right. She cheeps every now and then. Almost threw herself off the counter while i was scrambling eggs. Suggestions?

You’ve done all you can. I’m not familiar with giving human electrolytes. I give SavAChick or make my own but it can’t be that different, right? Does it have sugar? Maybe post a label.

My biggest advice is put the chick back in the incubator for a day or so. Any handling will cause it stress. Some really benefit from the extra warmth and time in the incubator. There is plenty of time for snuggles when it’s well.

Mix up some sugar water and dip it’s beak a couple times a day. More is not better here.

@Dragon Slayer Trinket This is what I use. I haven’t lost a chick, other than 1 unabsorbed yolk, in quite awhile. Maybe compare it to your human ones? I’ve also had success using molasses and water.

Started with 12 and down to 5, a bit disappointing for our first time incubating from our own flock Quite a few clears and then two very early quitters. Probably should have waited to set, but wasn’t sure if we’d have a roo with them again. He’s back and I’m hoping to improve his diet, the neighbours only gave him scratch
