Blue Footed Booby pushes another egg out of her nest. I knew it was bad because she’s amazing at this. I threw it in the woods and it exploded like a bomb and made a loud pop 😂 Scared the daylights out of me! It was like an egg grenade!

I think she’s very close to hatching these chicks! I am so excited to see them! It’ll be the last chicken hatch of the year.

I’m focusing on quail for the rest of this year.

It’s day 18- lockdown for the 7 buff orpington eggs in the incubator!

Broody mama is sitting on 5: 2 welsummer, 1 welsumer/Sussex cross, 2 buff orpington, which I candled yesterday and they were all looking good. Also gave her fresh straw in her nest to be sure it’s all nice and clean.

it’s my first time hatching with a broody...will she know she needs to stay put on the nest? Do broody’s know about lockdown?! 😂

I’ve been focusing on the chicks and quail to bide my time til the duck eggs hatch. Lol. First it was waiting for the eggs to show up in the first place, which got delayed, and then it’s the waiting game with them. Why does an extra week feel sooooo long?? xD
It is because you are young. :lau

Lol, it’s funny that this is the thing I’m impatient about. Most things I’m good with taking as long as it needs, but I want these guys out ASAP. lol. And yet there’s my 16 month old jersey heifer out in the yard that I finally got around to breeding because yeah, it’s about time. xD haha.

this probably stems from the fact that I’ve hatched only drakelets so far this year and I lost one of my 2 older girls, and I’m desperate for a few more girls. Lol.
