June Hatch-A-Long

I know I wasn't supposed to, buuuuut I candled a few. **holds hand out for slap**

However...I'm SO GLAD I did! I saw 4 internal pips! :celebrate
I grabbed a few of the really wiggly eggs thinking I might see something, but no...nothing but big ol' air cells. Then I thought well, I'm here why not grab a few of the really still ones and see if they are still ok. Wow! I was so not expecting to be greeted by little shadow beaks.
There may have been 5 I don't know... I got excited and forgot to write down which ones I looked at.
No peeping or clicking that I could hear, but most certainly beaks. Now all those pictures I've been staring at in other people's candling articles is making perfect sense.

Here are both of my little chicks all dry and such.

Which of course brings another question...
How do you, or would you, know if the chick internally pipped in the small end?

A couple of signs that a chick is malpositioned. Once the other chicks have externally pipped, if you candle an egg that doesn't appear to have a drawn down air cell, it's possible that it's not in the correct position for hatching or it quit. The other is obviously that you will see an external pip in the small end of the egg. When pipped upsidedown it can take twice as long for the chick to hatch because it's both the internal and external pip in one go since there isn't an air cell in that end.
