so i should put both thinks in the bator lol dont sounds like a bad ideaThen it's likely measuring the room's humidity, only temp of incubator. Usually the probe measures just temp.

and i think you are right about her panicking to get out when she needs to she needs to kinda have a open area to go out and do her business when she feels the urge she kinda needs freedom of movement if you can give it to herI guess my concern is if I don't remove her for 3-4 days, she may panic to get out while I'm at work, like last time - and trample the eggs.
listen to you ! you are my biggest enabler
Anyone else have these issues with the shipped eggs? My past two experiences were great, so I am unsure why this batch was so bad.
Here something i was wondering.....When you place water in the incubator should it be distilled or purified or would tap water suffice? Was not sure if it makes a different. I was wondering since tab water is treated could it give off chemicals harmful to hatching eggs...I might be overthinking this but just wondered if anyone had any idea.![]()
i love the buckeyes and the brinsea Eco with water thing ( humidity pump ?) is a good incubator as far as shipped eggs any one here will tell you its a crap shoot most are lucky to hatch 40% and that is considered a excellent rate so i would not beat yourself up to bad I'm sure some others will chime in on this oneHi, I am a newbie and mostly lurker on this site. I would love to join this thread! I am afraid I too have been affected by chicken math. I was only going to have a mixed flock of 5. I like the heritage breeds so I started with a hatch of 3 Blue Ameraucanas that hatched in March. 2 hatched, seems like a one of each so far. Then I ordered a Delaware, a Buckeye, and 2 Plymouth Rocks. But, they were not coming until May, so I ordered 6 Cream Legbars to hatch. They sent me 10! (Oh yeah, I like mixed egg basket). All 10 hatched! But, 7 were boys. I liked that I could tell the sex upon hatching. Now, since I only got 2 Ameraucanas, I ordered some more blues and some Wheatens. This time they sent me 15 eggs. I think the PO had a game of football with the package because only 4 seemed viable on day 5 of candling. I actually waited until day 18 to open those and see how they looked. All but two of the yolks were scrambled. There was no blood in the shells, so I am thinking they were either scrambled during shipping or they were never fertilized. Anyone else have these issues with the shipped eggs? My past two experiences were great, so I am unsure why this batch was so bad. The remaining 4 are on lockdown and due to hatch tomorrow. I use the Brinsea 20 with the auto water thing (Brain has stopped working apparently). I actually had to build a bigger coop to house all my chickens! 2 NH Reds, 2 Blue Ameraucana's, 7 Cream Legbars (gave away two roos), 1 Delaware, 1 Buckeye, 5 Plymouth Rocks, 4 Blue Ameraucana's in the brooder, then I couldn't resist the urge to hatch some mixed Marans come September! I will need to find someplace to sell all these eggs when they start producing!
