JUNE - JULY HATCH-ALONG!!!!!!!

Pics
Following your excellent suggestion, I got a remote camera and set it up as best I could without being super disruptive of the guineas. I was still ridiculously disruptive and stressed them out, so I’m leaving the camera like this for now. It gives a great shot of Concord’s nest in the foreground (screen shot of live feed) , but the ones due to hatch are the ones way in the background, where you can’t really see anything but a nervous guineas head. I just put the camera up as is, with a loud drill, and moved it three times... and finally bailed! I hope I can try again tomorrow because I don’t want to stress these girls out any more than I have. No live streaming from me! My video game obsessed son is already complaining about the bandwidth I’m taking up with this camera!

That's really cool! Yeah, they look a little disgruntled by your paparazzi attempts. :gig

You did well with your camera placement, you should be able to tell if something is going on that should not be, as the babies won't just sit there and take it, if they can get up and move, they will. As for the bandwidth issue? he's not going to die even if he thinks he will.

While the hubby isn't a gamer, he whines if the Roku tv is slow..lol, our bandwidth with the cable company gets slow sometimes. I hate to say it, but Olive Oil (nickname for the little one I helped out) didn't make it, he passed this AM, not sure what I could have done for him.

:hugs I'm so sorry for you loss! You did everything you could!

I’m sorry to hear that!!! I get attached to whatever I nurse; sorry that you lost your little one!:hugs

@Mixed flock enthusiast , Thank you. Was my first time needing to do something like that, I've nursed a roo back to health after he got mugged by his flock mates, he was bare on his back, part of his wings and missing his tail feathers, he's now beautifully feathered and strutting his stuff... lol, of course my girls keep kicking his butt, when he tries.

@CluckNDoodle , Thank you, I'm sure you know something like this has you going "what more could I have done?" I'm getting ready to set another hatch, same kind of eggs, the Ameraucana breed. Hopefully I will get plenty more. I ended up with 3 out of the 6 I'd set for that group. I can't fuss about a 50% hatch with just those, I think I ended up with a 45 +/- hatch percentage over all. I'll set them this evening.

Four out so far!!! Two eggs left. Not sure about one as it's looking pretty squished. One just got pushed off to a side, I candled it and it's still viable so I put it back under mum. If she pushes it out again I'll put it in my incubator.
One of the ducklings I am a bit worried about. It was off to the side and doesn't look like it's walking too well. I picked it up and it doesn't look like the legs are... Quite right. One almost looks crooked if that makes sense. Any thoughts?
