Just a girl trying to raise some chickens in DFW

Hi,
My son built a coop, I ordered chicks and my husband and I have spent MANY hours painting, predator proofing, tweaking and fretting over our sweet little chickens! They're 7 weeks now and we're still getting it all figured out. I have 9 different birds and it's interesting how they're all so different. We just put in an exhaust fan to help the girls survive this Texas heat. I joined BYC to learn about "all things chicken"! I'm now contemplating coop and run litter material. Thinking I'm going with sand and wondering if I should paint the coop floor with Flex Seal for ease of cleaning or will it just make a heat box out of the coop. Inquiring minds want to know...

Is the exhaust fan motor sealed? If not it is going to become a major fire hazard as the extreme dust from the coop will coat the motor.
