We went swimming today and desperately tried to make a run for it. Big mean guy wouldn't let us.

@Miss Lydia Can I cover the hardware cloth cover over the broader with a blanket tonight? They are in a broader with a hardware cloth cover, inside of the coop and there are 2 heating pads on a cave.

I’d check temps under there before leaving it all night you don’t want it too hot or too cold.

48° is the overnight low. I don't really have a thermometer except a probe type for in an oven.

I don't know what to tell you. It's always a good idea to have a thermometer for the brooder so you can keep up with the temps. You'll have to watch and see how they are acting huddling under the heat cave or out from under it. I'd have them inside if mine. Until you can get an accurate temp in the outside brooder.

I checked with the oven thermometer and it's showing 80° (edited). Not sure why I didn't think of that. I'll get a regular thermometer tomorrow.
