Also definitely have some high and low spots. Will have to move the calibrated thermometer around and/or add the other ones to be sure (NOT tonight! Don’t worry!!) but the thermometer that was reading high in the top right corner is now reading low in the top left corner. Reading the same as the other thermometer that was there before. Except the other one only does whole numbers (didn’t know that when I got it). So it only said 98. This one says 98.5. So the left side is definitely cooler. The one in the bottom right is reading 100. The calibrated one in the top right I think is reading 100. The spot check is also reading around 100. Will have to move the calibrated one over to the top left tomorrow and see how low that spot really is if at all. Also the other one was accurate when in the middle. 99.5.

I THINK the problem is the turning motor is on the right side of the lid so it makes that side slightly hotter.

Gonna have to play with it some tomorrow but this is frustrating! Between this and the turner issue and the fact I have to set it 2 degrees lower to even get close to accurate, I wish I never shelled out $175 (before shipping and taxes too) for this dang thing!! Should have just gotten a Hovabator Genesis or heck, even just a cheap one from TSC probably would have been better than this thing!! :barnie

I liked the idea of the ease of cleaning with the plastic over foam and the huge viewing window but the viewing window doesn’t matter if none make it to hatch!! :barnie

But I guess I also can’t entirely blame the incubator since other people have great hatches in these things and I’ve definitely made a lot of mistakes that probably caused most of the issues but still!!

It’s probably still mostly or entirely me though cause if I had messed with it more before setting I likely would have noticed the hot spots and the turner issue but still. Never would have thought a brand new incubator would have so many issues or hot spots. I thought the fan was supposed to avoid this??

Mine is hotter where the turner motor is too that's why I leave that row where it is, empty or I rotate the eggs so they all get that warm temp at least once. I think it's 100.5 where the turner motor is.

I put my hygrometer on the row I'm not using.

Thanks! That’s a good point and good idea. Good to know it’s not just mine. It makes sense since the motor generates heat. I just didn’t think of it before. Thankfully mine really doesn’t have much space for eggs over there so I’m not using that side anyway.
