I always keep my humidity below 50 because it spikes at hatch time and another thing I noticed was the temp spikes a little too right before hatch day

I put my humidity at 65% during lockdown by adding distilled water and my humidity got over 80%!
I believe this is why I lost those nine chicks that were fully developed in the egg because they couldn't absorb anything due to all the humidity that was in the incubator. I also believe that some had a hard time hatching because they were sticky from all the humidity.
I think at one point it was 90% and that's because I added water at the end on day 18 thinking that's what I needed to do.OMG 80!?![]()

I'll tell you one thing... Adding no water or only 25 ml to my incu aror and keeping it under 40% has truly made my eggs look amazing!
I candled last night and the air cells looks so much better than what I was seeing with my first set! The chicks also look like they're developing better. I'm only candling every 7ish days this time and I'm thinking I'll have a way better hatch this time around!
Has anyone tried weighing the eggs for humidity? I was reading that in the BYC Beginners Guide to Incubation. Since the humidity is already high here I was thinking of doing that as well. I set my eggs yesterday and has not been 24 hours yet so I was thinking of weighing them when I went home and divide by 18(before lock down)before lock down to make sure they were losing the neseccary weight.
