No. They could all be reading 2 -4 degrees too high.

You can NOT trust them for the 1 millionth time.

But would 3 of them really be reading that wrong!?

I find it hard to believe all 3 could be totally wrong, one or two maybe, but 3!?

But I will get one or two I can calibrate and test those and see.

I’m gonna feel like an idiot if all 3 are way off haha



But then how do I know if that one is right or wrong versus just a hot or cold spot in the incubator??

Go set a 15 minute time on your phone.
Stop the fish and walk over and look at the temp and right it down.
Repeat the alarm.

You don't have to sit and watch...quick glance is all.

What do those two thermometers say right now?

101.1 (down from 101.3 earlier) on the right and 98 on the right (was 99 briefly) and I have the Brinsea sticking straight down and it’s reading 99.2

No but it just turned not that long ago so it won’t turn for few more hours I don’t think.

I could not for the life of me understand how a brand new thermometer could be wrong but they are.

Two or three degrees will kill the eggs.

You put the calibrated thermometer right next to one of the other possibly wrong ones and leave them right next to each other and then you can tell how off the uncalibrated thermometer is one way or the other.

Good idea. Thanks. I was thinking you meant sit there and stare at the incubator for 3 hours.

Thanks!! That makes a lot of sense!! I’m going to go get one and try that. Where would I find one? Is glass or plastic okay? I assume it can’t be one of those flat types?

Put all three thermometers as close together as possible.
Set an alarm for 15 minutes walk away and go do your fish.

in 15 minutes let me know what those three read when they're sitting as close as possible next to each other.
