Hey...we knew this was going to happen the second she confessed to buying the eggs.

im so excited somebody on BYC was giving away an aggresive cockeral that is only 6 months old an they happened to be in my area
they were going to put him down if they couldnt find him a home
so they are delivering him this weekend hes a white easter egger named star im very confident that his hormones will chill out once integrated into my older flock

I can't assume anything anymore because I thought it was a given that you should START with a calibrated thermometer in a tested bator.

Have you handled the eggs this evening?
If not I think you should.

Okay, that’s probably fair.

I definitely should have and it definitely was not one of my brighter moments.

But I already feel bad enough for killing them all and am well aware I messed up big time.

I won’t make the mistake again next time. I know it was a mistake.

But I don’t even know if there will be a next time. I don’t think I’m cut out for hatching. Or at least not myself. Might just wait for a broody next time hah

The time I have this egg out is how long it takes me to candle it.

My incubator, the one everyone loves to hate, doesn't drop more than one or two degrees while doing this.

First things first when you first got it did you heat it up and let it set for a couple days for it to settle and gave it time to hold a temp? Like as it was without calibrating stuff and whatever. Like right out the box? Or longer? Just letting it run unmolested
