You didn't calibrate the humidity gauge or the thermometer that came installed in the incubator is what I meant.

You can adjust the temp all you want but you won't know if it is correct unless you have a calibrated thermometer inside.

AND you now see that you can't trust the installed thermometer, right?

Ohhh okay. Sorry.

And yeah that makes sense. But are all incubators wrong usually or did I get a bad one?

And how exactly would you calibrate the instruments? They’re built into the lid??

Nah, I’ve had it, I’ve just never used it before. Originally I wanted to participate in the Easter Hatch A Long but then I never did.

And thanks, I’ll try all this next time. I probably should have let it run longer first or messed with it more first. But now I know.

And I have added water a couple of times. Wonder if that could mess anything up.

And I think I definitely did mess with it too much at first. I was a bit paranoid about it hence all the adjusting the temp but I got over it and have basically left it alone since. At least until the last couple days. Which honestly might be part of the problem because I should have been paying more attention to it. I was trying so hard not to mess with it or candle too much, not to obsess over temp too much, etc. cause I know you guys had mentioned that wasn’t good and to leave it alone, but I think I went too much the other way. To almost ignoring it. Which also wasn’t good. I think next time (if there is one) I need to be somewhere more in the middle.
Good you know what you did right and what you did wrong...for next time.
You learned something.

Are all the eggs dead?

Pretend like your incubator doesn't have a thermometer.
Don't even look at the one the reading on the thing that came installed.

Make the adjustments based on your calibrated thermometers.
This is why having multiple calibrated thermometers inside is a good idea because you will know at a quick glance where your hot and cool spots are too.

Thanks, that’s a good point. And yeah, I don’t look at it now hah unless it’s reading like higher than it’s set to then I check all the other ones to make sure it’s not too high.

And good point. I should probably put the other ones in? But they were reading waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy wrong yesterday. Maybe they would be better today hah

They are all wrong to some degree.

You don't calibrate the installed ones. You just pretend they aren't there and only trust your calibrated/salt tested ones.

No...if they were reading way wrong them they are no good.
I don't know what you mean though by them reading way wrong.
I don't even want to know right now either.

I want to know if all of the eggs are dead or not.
:pop

Yeah, I definitely did. I think I learned that when I first candled the other day and found all the possibly dead ones ha

And idk yet. I haven’t candled again.

Probably.

Go candle them.
Don't take an hour either.

Oh okay I wasn’t sure cause you said I didn’t calibrate the ones that came with it so I thought maybe there was a way to do that.

Cause they were reading like 100 in ice hah

But I did the boiling method first so maybe they froze there. I’ll retest them now that it’s been a while hah

And yeah me too. I’ll candle them now
