The chicks are doing well. Still very active and happy.

The Buff Orp had a bit of diarrhea/runny poop yesterday but I think that was just because I had added some NutriDrench to the water. Rinsed her bum off and replaced it with fresh, plain water and she seems fine now. Hasn’t recurred.

They are still so adorable. :love

The one little Welsummer is still pretty small but it’s a little bit younger so I think it will catch up.

I think the other Welsummer might be a rooster. Not sure on the BR now. But the older Wellie figured out how to climb on the heat plate already and did yesterday and just kinda stood there and his stance was looking quite rooster-ish.

Also I did the hand clapping thing which I know is nowhere near an accurate test or sexing method at all but I was just curious and wanted to try it cause I figured it couldn’t hurt. They all ran but the Wellie froze, stood right up, and looked straight at me.

Thinking he’s definitely a rooster lol

But I’ll wait and see. But the BR has been behaving better since having more friends.

But I’m thinking I have at least one or maybe two roosters.

Hoping not but I know I’m almost guaranteed to have at least one and probably many more than that.

The other egg I’m now convinced is dead but I haven’t brought myself to turn the incubator off and do an eggtopsy yet. Thinking I’ll do that tonight.

But the other chicks are so freaking adorable. The EE has a beard and muffs and is so poofy and cute. :love

When I clap or sneeze all of mine run :lau I did vent sex some of mine though and two of them were male and three of them were female. I will see how accurate I am once they get bigger.

Mine seem more scared of me today and run.... maybe cause I did the clapping thing yesterday. :lau

And cause I come from above.

But if I wait long enough and put food in my hands they get over it quickly lol

The ones that are outside climb all over me!

We might be keeping four extra females and putting them in the new duck fenced in area and using those just for eggs and if we ever lose a female we can rotate one in to our layer area.

So I can keep 12 females... 13 If my husband would just give up Sid and let me butcher him :ranthe still has an attitude

Mine do once I put my hands down in there and wait lol

And that is awesome!!! I like that idea.

And I say do it and don’t tell him :lau

And pickles my duck is trying to mate with the roosters. She starts bobbing her head and then bends down... 'Squatch looks at her like she's crazy :lau then sometimes he jumps on her back and jumps off just to make her shut up!

We have a drake, but I don't think he's mature yet. I'm hoping that she'll realize that there is a Drake and she doesn't need to bother the roosters to mate!

They've been living with the chickens for about 2 months now. She's a jumbo Pekin. The Drake that we have is a white layer.

We are moving them out before springtime because I don't want the Drake getting a hold of my pretty hens.
