If i need to move this let me know. We might be moving to fairbanks alaska i know i can have chickens there since i called the city. But what breeds would be best and how would i keep them alive in -50 degree weather ? They will have a coop and lots of hay filled nest boxes to snuggle up in and i will keep a few heated perches made for parrots in there to keep there feet warm. Is there any way to keep them happy and healthy in the cold of weather ? I could also move them to the garage but i figured a insulated coop would be fine. I cannot have a heater or heat lamp in the coop for fire safety reasons. I can put some 8 hours hot hands in the nest boxes to help keep them warm at night. Would love to hear from chicken raisers up there !
