Ms. Lewis Rich :
Mt. Healthy has a new chicken this year a DeKalb amberlinks ? never heard of em. Did they have Spec. Sussex last year I don't remember just saw um.
They are selling eggs again this year, you can mix um duck and chicken the same price. Last year they would sell a doz. for 6.00 chicken if you picked them up.
The lady that answers the phone, does not seem to like her job.
It is difficult to pick up chicks or eggs only certain days and morning hours and never on a Sat.
I saw that last night (I was on there looking at ducks
)
I never heard of them, either, so I looked them up. The dekalb amberlinks are sort of white with amber-ish colored tails and maybe they had em on their hackles, too - cant recall. But I looked at sizes, they seem to be a cross for egg laying, and aren't very big birds - so good for eggs, but not for dual purpose. I am wondering if they have leghorn in them, for the egg laying, and maybe rir or some such for the coloring ? who knows. I think size at adult was something like 4.5 to 6 pounds. Wasn't a good pic, either, so I couldn't tell if the comb laid over like a leghorn does.
