Heres a post you dont see often..... I am looking for a rooster! Preferably young and must not have a mean feather towards people. I got rid of my rescue rooster last night (he flogged me, my niece, my nephews friend and the nieghboor!). My wife has a few criteria lol. Not white or black. Must be a large breed. If you have or know of anyone around Campbellsville, Columbia, Elizabethtown that has any let me know, or send a pic. I will warn you, my wife is picky lol.

I just got rid of my only good spare rooster to chiknlvn - but he was white and black, LOL.

I don't have one for ya, but I have some advice - don't get a New Hampshire Red roo - they are the nastiest roos I've ever owned. I've never seen such aggressive roos. I had 6 of them once (long story) and I offed every last one of them.
Never been so satisfying stomping a rooster's neck as those nasty roos.

I saw your other post (somewhere...) and I would suggest a standard sized game roo (I got one who is the sweetest thing) but he is not very large. Cindy has a roo who is HUGE, and pretty, but he is black and white barred, so ya probably don't want that type, either.

Does your wife have particular colors she wants? I know the other post said a really pretty tail and a large bird.
I actually prefer a little smaller roo - it's easier on the hens.

Thanks guys. I had shown her some pics of game roosters last night. They got a "hmmm not too bad" response lol. I am going to check with a guy in buffalo to see if he still has a BR cockerel. She also seems to like brown leghorns but I think I would have to order them from a hatchery. Decisions.

Meri - does he have tics too(or did he as a child)? Through the years Laynes been through chewing on his shirt sleeve, to chewing on his collar, to continuously grabbing a part of his body we won't mention(that was a tough one to break), to pulling out all of his eyelashes(last year) which are finally growing back thank God...He hasn't really had any tics this year yet. I think stress at school has a lot to do with some of them like chewing his shirt...He started doing that when kids started teasing him and picking at him.
He did better last year and acquired some good friends, mostly through baseball. And one of his best friends Callie sticks up for him quite often in and out of class...If it wasn't for her last year we wouldn't have known about a substitute telling him he had no place in anyones heart. Callie called us after school and told us, Layne never said a thing. Everyone in class heard the sub say it and Callie was clear across the room. Needless to say I was all over that and that sub never was called for that class again. I told the principal if I saw her near my child again I'd make sure she was fired...She should have been anyway, there's been several complaints on her.

Wow, I guess I was lucky I had him in Michigan schools at the time (never thought I'd say that!!). His tutor, also, was part of a volunteer program, so it was free and she came right to the school. In the summer (because she liked Jon, LOL) she came to the house once a week to take him to the library. She also taught yoga, and she asked if he could join her class - he loved yoga.

Jon had special ed classes for some subjects, but not all of them. Mostly for any class he had to write words in - math and science he didn't have to have special ed.

One thing that helped Jon (his own idea) but I'm not sure if it'd help Layne (because he also has the adhd) is he listened to music at home when he did his homework. He put on headphones, so the music was the only thing he could hear. He liked classical or Yanni (he would DIE if I he knew I told anyone that he listened to Yanni, LOL). Now he listens to techno when he is in his room - something about the repetative beat just makes him focus better and relax so he could just "do" the work and not think so hard about it.

With Layne, though, that might be too distracting.

ETA - does Layne Blink a lot? Jon alwasy blinked a lot - not sure if that was part of the dyslexia or just part of his OCD,

If you can wait a couple weeks to see if they hatch, I have a couple BRs in my bator...Daddy is a sweetheart and so is mommy...If one ends up being male and Meri doesn't want him she can give him to you since it looks like she is closer to you. That is if she wants to...Not like I'm trying to talk for her or anything...LOL..I just realized that is what it sounded like...sry Meri...

I do get up to Campbellesville a lot, (since my town has no LOWES or TSC grrrrrrrr). So if I do come across one I can bring it to ya, when I get up there next. Or if ya find one somewhere and ya want me to shlepp it along next time I'm coming to Campbellesville I can.

I actually really disliked Child Psych. The professor that taught it had 3 different kids from 3 different dads and had some serious issues. Most of us soon realized she had a "men are pigs" attitude and would grade accordingly. My little brother had some tics when he was little, he'd grind his teeth and chew his shirt collar and pee in some really weird places. He's a grad student at Miami with a polici degree from a liberal arts college now. I guess you never shake the behavior, it just matures.

Wasn't there someone that had a bunch of roosters in Lexington a few posts back? I think she was new to the board.

ETA - I never understood the "men are pigs" attitude - seems to me if ya got THAT many problems with them, then it's You - not them.

So you got rid of the woodsman? I wish I could help (or you could help me lol) but all my roos are banties!
