Your welcome for the links, glad you found them useful. As to the Avatars, I did a websearch yesterday for Chicken Avatars and found several, that's how I found my Choking the Chicken one.

Then I just saved it and then uploaded it here.

Btw - Shelley, meant to tell ya, two of those hens I got off ya are laying, the Brahma and the white rock. The rir has yet to get with the program, btu I doubt it will be long. I got two eggs today from that coop, and I saw them both in the nesting boxes, so I assume it was them.

Miss Piggy tried to go broody today on me, I think I have her broke. Stoopid hen sat in the open doorway in the nest box braving the full wind in her face to sit on eggs for half the day.

I hope she doesn't go broody right now, I don't need anymore teensy ones at the moment

especially if I end up having to bring them inside.

eta - What types of treats did your dad (or you) give those hens? I threw in my apple core after I finished eating the apple (I was out working on that fence, finishing a few things) and they lost their minds

you'd have thought they had found the Holy Grail or something. All of them pounced on it and had it almost devoured in no time. Guess I'll have to find them creative treats, just to get a giggle.

We just gave them whatever. This summer they got a LOT of cucumbers, and some squash from the garden. They would get some watermelon, just about anything. Cris would give them whatever until he realized the horses, bunnies, and piggy liked the stuff too, then dad's birds got neglected. Oh, they really loved tomatoes too! I can just imagine what fun the apple was!! Those birds always act like they are starved to death!

No fair!! I still can't figure the avatar thing out!

Meri, when you come to get those hens you'll have to show me how to do it!

I can do that

Jon's schedule got changed, because the head cook's wife died yesterday, so he is off all week. He still has monday off and he doesn't go in until 4 oclock any other day (until the weekend). So I am still wondering what the heck Bruce is gonna do about that stove for Roger tomorrow (if anything).

I'll try to get him to call Roger tonight, to see what is going on.

Oh, and the banty coop - everyone in there is healthier and sassier than they've been in a long while. I love that Oxine - gonna have to get me a gallon of it next time (when I run out of this stuff).

I still haven't hit a second dose on the banty coop, nor have I had the chance to get the other coops - maybe tomorrow if the wind dies down.

Did you ever get your pigeons back inside?

eta - the banty coop - I had a ton of eggs in there today!! went from hardly anyone laying to (I think) they are all laying again.

eta - again - I also sold three dozen eggs to the neighbor today

I sell cheap, but I'm gonna put it all into a jar for treats for the ladies and gents.

Oh sure, I get 2 or 3 eggs a day, but those are from dad's hens in the yard. I have vowed not to hatch anymore eggs from dad's birds, since I do all the work, feed them and everything, then he thinks he gets the money from them. If any of my hens are laying, they are hiding them pretty good. My little hen (not sure what she is) has finally started running her girls off to fend for themselves, and mama has been spotted in the nest once or twice, but still no eggs.

I didn't do anything with the pigeons before dad got home. I figured he'd gripe either way, so I would let him mess it up so the griping wouldn't be directed at me. Finally got them all to go back in. The parents went in right away, and I think the other one that was out was one of their babies from this summer. It couldn't figure out how to get in. So dad tried to 'shoo' it...bad idea (DUH!!). The bird flew away. So dad got the idea to toss some more feed on the floor (in addition to what was already in there) which attracted some of dad's stupid roosters. So then instead of one stubborn pigeon being out, there were at least 6, cause the stupid roosters scared them out!! They were having some trouble figuring out how to get in, but eventually they all made it. Dad went and closed them up so he could count them without anymore escapees and another one came flying. Dad opened the door and that one went right in. There are 23 pigeons in there!! Counting the 4 babies. The 2 homers have 2 babies, and 2 of the rollers have 2 babies as well. I wish the capuchines would get busy, those are really pretty birds.

I give mine banana peels. I eat the banana and they line up waiting for the peelings. Some times I'll even give them part of the banana.

I am getting 4 eggs a day now. I have 6 other hens who should start laying very soon now. I don't know what I will do with all the extra eggs. Do you need an egg handling license to sell eggs here in Kentucky? I know where I work, my store has an egg handling license.

I need to figure out the avatar thing as well. I have a picture of my roo 'Rusty' which I would like to use but cannot get the picture to download from the camera. I can get about 70 pictures or so and then it quits.

I made Christmas cards at Walgreens using this pic and can't wait to get them in the mail.
