Kentucky people

Shelley, hope your surgery went well yesterday. Everybody down south of us better batten down your hatches, check your generators, make sure you have spare batteries for your flashlights, etc.

Winter storm warning in effect from 1:00pm today until 7:00 am tomorrow, and they say between 1-3 inches of snow/sleet/ice/rain for Adair county area.

Me I'm gonna get cracking and get my running done now so I can stay inside and be safe.

Sorry guys but I think the center of the low will be passing through Tennessee. I haven't checked on the snow projections today. I'll have to give it a look see.

Come on Springtime...

I have wheat and radishes sprouting in a warm place in my house. I also have tomatos and squash and a few other things in the same container.

Come on Springtime...

no offense but i hope it stays up yalls way

No offense taken, here Dave. I wish we were done with all this crazy weather. I have too many projects outside that I need to get done! By the end of the week they are calling for temps back in the 50's - 60's and possible rain.

It is 2:13 CST, and we have sleet

I hope we don't get all that they are saying!! That would really stink! I was hoping to move my 'chicks' out of the brooder on the porch, the poor BR are bumping their heads on the top!

And thanks Chuck, the surgery went well, i"m a little sore, but no where near as much as I thought I would be!!

I think most of ours are pullets actually! Dad got his last year at the feed store, and it would have been in March. So they aren't yet 1 year old. Close, but not quite. There is only 1 for sure on the place that is over a year, and I don't think she is laying yet. She took a break after I took her chicks. I think I broke her spirit.

I don't know for sure how old my game hen is, but I am pretty sure she is still young.

They are mostly my dad's, the big girls anyway. He sells his laying pullets for $10 each, and his POL pullets for $8 each. The POL pullets are about 3-4 months old. He has way too many, and needs to get rid of some! His are RIR, SLW, buff orp, and some other mixed ones that I'm not sure what they are! There is also one light brahma 'pullet' that is laying, almost 1 year old.

??? Is this for me? I haven't had any start laying again that soon! My silkie/game mix starts about 4-5 weeks after she hatches chicks, but the others haven't started again yet! Except my game hen, and hers was at least 2 months old before she started!

But most all of mine are bantams, and none of them have had chicks since this last fall.

It is cold and icky out there, but if you look ahead to next weekend... WOOHOO!!!! looks great.

We're letting the new donkey mingle tomorrow. It should be interesting to see how he gets along with Juju. I doubt we'll have a problem with any of the others, just Juju thinks he is the top donkey around the pasture. In reality, he is more like the Biggest Punk

Juju tends to be a bully, and even though the new guy is small, he's older and he's pretty quick

I still don't have a name for the new guy yet. I guess I'll just have to wait til it comes to me. It took me over two weeks to name the latest ones we had, so a couple more days won't harm anything. The other day I was calling him Mr. Snappy cause he bites. Well, he nips, not hard, just fast - mainly cause he is new and it is breeding season, and all them womens is out there and he is trapped in the corral

poor little guy - wait til he gets out there and finds out the available ladies are all too tall for him.

Butters is too young to breed, and Mama is pregnant, already.
