Mine are sweeties, when I go looking for eggs, they just raise up a bit (if they are in the nestbox) and look at me like "hurry up, workin' here, lady".
I can go in and pick them up and usually have to push them out of my way, cause they mob me for scratchies and treats. I've never had chickens I could actually pick up and pet - but these guys love it. My other chickens like me, just don't like to be held and petted.
Oh!! George gave me a scare today!! (George is my oeg rooster)
He was sparring with Mr. Speckles through the chicken wire and hooked his long spur in the fencing. I was afraid he was gonna break his leg before I got over there, but all he did was strip his spur - now I guess I need to go do the other one on purpose (been putting it off, didn't see a problem with it - until today!!).
I happened to be out there working on the duck pen and it is right in the line of view of where they were fighting. Poor guy, it stopped bleeding pretty quickly, but then he must have hit it on something and it started again.
I hope it'll be ok by morning. It had stopped again by bedtime, but man, it was bad there for awhile.
