spydertoys (I think that's who it was!) did have some naked necks at Sano one day. I don't know if she breeds them, or if she just had the two roosters. I have 1 black ameraucana pullet. I was going to breed them, but my dog changed my mind for me. You would always get an EE rooster to breed to your hens, if the rooster came from a green or blue egg, it will 'change' the color of the offspring's eggs. For example, if you have an EE rooster that hatched from a blue egg, and cross it over a white egg-laying hen, the offspring pullets should lay blue or green eggs. If you cross it over a brown egg-layer, the offspring should lay an olive green egg.

Kind of works that way. If he wasnt pure only 50% of the young would have blue gene. And only the pea combed ones.

Jut got back from Bowling Green , wow what a trip with no ac. on a day like today. Thought i would throw this just in case anyone else is looking for a Ky USDA inspected / organic certified poultry processor. Nice folks there, they did a great job on my load of guineas.

wow! thanks for that. i hate selling a roo to someone for $5 to eat when we could eat it....no one here wants to do the dirty work.

I guess I'm just in "one of those moods" today - but at this point, I am ready to kill the geese, send the dogs and the teenager to Alaska, and just go to bed and think about getting rid of every other animal on the farm tomorrow.

Fred and Lucy attacked one of my Buff Orp pullets (not the ones I got from Sydney, but the younger one - still hasn't laid an egg yet, is pale combed STILL!!! stoop!d bird) They not only attacked her, they together chased her down, while holding onto her back feathers, and shoving her into the ground - she was running and trying to get loose, and they would not let go until I smacked them both. They were so intent on killing this chicken that they never even heard me coming and yelling at them.

She is not harmed, but her back feathers torn up and a few fell out when I picked her up - she just stood there and let me grab her, she was in shock, poor thing.

I can see them grabbing a tail feather or two in passing - they are geese, after all - but that was totally uncalled for and it shocked the heck out of me.

Stoop!d dogs ticked me, off, too - Toby was out in the calf pen barking at the calves, and Lily was standing outside (she's afraid of the hotwire) barking too. Could have cheerfully kicked their heads up their butts today, too. The calves were mooing for dinner, I guess Toby was telling them to shut up.

Was talking to a friend on the phone, and reminded me of something the teenager said that so totally ticked me off that I am still mad about it every time it comes up. (I told the kid to find a place to live with his friends, and I'd pay the little sh!t to move up there - I'm tired of his attitude.)

Got halfway through painting and it poured rain - just long enough to mess us up. Thankfully the paint is fine, but still - I could have been done with it if it hadn't have rained. Now I get to make another mess tomorrow and be covered in paint yet again (we're power spraying it, the overspray is unbelievable when the wind is blowing).

Kids, Dogs, Poultry - they can all get bent as far as I'm concerned today.

ARRRRRRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, I sometimes really miss my xanax.

Jose' will have to do, however, since the doc needs a better reason to prescribe the xanax

Well, the little hawk I had out on the corral fence is still hanging out. He swooped the little bitties twice so far this morning (missed both times).

The ducks were all acting very strange, and I had no idea what their problem was, so I walked over by the brooder coop, and as soon as I did he made his first sweep of the yard.

I guess I need to learn to speak duck.

They were all in a bunch, by the pools, but wouldn't get in and play in the water, they just were standing there quacking at each other. Even the geese were right there standing, like they were part of the duck group. Usually when they all get around the pools, the geese chase the ducks away so they can get in.

I hear the helicopters flying over this morning - it's Sticky Green Harvest Season I guess

They've been going at it mornings and evenings, when it is easier to spot the fields. I think they like overcast days, cause the color really sticks out.

Well, gonna cruise BYC and catch up a bit this morning.
