Kentucky people

Chicken on the hill's remarks about chickens and snow reminded me of my first group of chickens. Some bantam Dark Brahma's. I let them out into about 3 inches of snow for their first experience with snow and the first hen flew out of the coop, hit the snow squaked and half flew/ran a big semi circle inorder to get back into the coop as soon as possible. The rest of the flock were after her and had stopped at the coop door and blocked her entrance. They didn't like the looks of the new stuff either. After they figured out that it wasn't going to eat them, they calmed down and took a few bites out of the snow to see what it was.
But that initial rapid exit from the coop hitting the snow and the flappin of the wings, squawking and panic ed look and rapid retreat was memerable.

Well i am almost done with my first coop. I am going for something people will get a kick out of. I built it on my old trailer 5x10. It is 4ft tall on the walls with a high peak roof. It has siding on it. That is where the normal stops. Above the coop door i have a door knocker that i use as a handle to pull the side off so i can clean out. When i moved to the new house there was a dish network dish in the yard and i use direct tv so i had it in the back yard in a pile. Well i have found a use for it. I mounted it on the coop. And other little odds and ends. When i get it done i will post some pics for you all to laugh at. I was going for....You might be a REDNECK IF....you chickens live in a moble home with tv... well i will post pics when done...

Yeeahh, I can see you all with a cattle truck full of chickens, ducks and geese! Feathers trailing behind on the highway. I just wish I had thought to buy a powerball ticket here in Georgetown. I would have bought you a winter home down in Florida (an island in the Bahamas for myself). Well, I guess I need to keep schlepping eggs!

"In that direction," the Cat said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Hatter: and in that direction," waving the other paw, "lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Really? The Bahamas!!!! You are the best! LOL

We do talk about moving south to Tenn but who knows if it will ever happen. We will need more than a cattle truck!

Well, I hatched 5 chickies Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Am currently trying to get the brooder room cleaned and organized cause I'm gonna be "really" incubating next week, and I'll need the space for bins.

Been hanging out on Facebook more than here, lately - all my family is on there LOL.

Also learned that I can make videos on my computer - been playing, check it out (the next to last pic of hubby is him when we met - hotty isn't he? he still is, he's just a bit gray.) The tune to the Vid is Joey and Rory's version of "If Not For You" (I love that song!! so pretty) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eCYYi3eogs

and
that's about all I've been doing LOL.

Hi, I'm wondering if any of you wonderful Kentucky people can help me. We are relocating there from Arizona and we are very excited, but having a lot of trouble finding a rental that will let us have our 10 chickens and 4 ducks. Do any of you know of a rental available? If not, what locations would you recommend that are "feathered friend friendly?" We are moving in February or March, whenever we can find something. We do have an agent helping us, but she's really not excited about helping us find a suitable place.

Thank you so much, Happy New Year!!!
