Hello fellow Kentuckians!!! I'm from around Tompkinsville, If you look at the map its right on the TN line in the middle of the state. Good ole' Monroe County!!! Anyways I have 35 chickens varying in age from 4 1/2 weeks to 19 weeks. Also I'm very new to chickens. I have five 19 weeks old black australorps and those were my first chickens ever!!! All the rest are younger. So I was wondering, where do you get your DE from, if you use it? The closest place I could find is Columbia.

I find it much more efficient to buy a 50lb bag of eBay and have it delivered to my door. It lasts forever. If cats can't get into your chicken yard, rig the hens up a well drained 'dust box' with sand and DE mixed in it. When they take dust baths the DE takes out mites and any lice that might have started homesteading on your flock. Give them a place they can wallow and roll in and they take care of the externals themselves. DE will take care of the internals mixed in the feed.

I usually google food grade DE and choose the site that has the cheapest shipping for 50#. Usually, the shipping is equal to the price of the DE. About $50 total.

For us who live in Hardin County...Rineyville feed store will get it in for you. I would love to find someone to share the cost of it(of which I can't remember) . I just don't have storage for a 50% sack. I think it is around 50.00. PM me if you are interested.

We don't either. I have a huge 50 lb bag sitting in the garage ready to use but haven't needed it.

Well, unless I'm just too new to recognize symptoms of pests...
