Maryland Mason-Dixon Mutt, here! Had family fighting on both sides of the Civil War - both back in the 1860's and today's divides. Politics are strictly taboo at family gatherings unless openly agreed to by all present ... including bystanders. That rarely happens, but when it does, things can get ugly ... as in nearly blood drawn ugly!

I totally understand!!!! It took me a while to admit my actual heritage cuz I always thought I was a true southie until I married one that pointed it out!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
