Glad to see a Vet visit is to be soon. I know that repetitive cleaning is in order but after the 'gunk' is cleared away with a warm damp towel, terramycin would be the antibiotic ointment to apply. You just put a tiny line 1/2 the length of the eye dropped from the tube down to it lands on their open eye (gently hold their eye lid open for the medicine) then gently rub their eyelid to distribute the medicine. It works even for pink eye in humans. The same family medicine to clear up eye infections. Tractor Supply carries this for around $9.00 or approximately that area. They carry it in the medicine isle, you'd have to get an empty box & take it to the checkout, they scan it & the cashier will then send someone to get the small 1 1/2 inch tube medicine from the back. It's not a controlled substance or an over 18 product, just probably a safety issue in case a small child were in their store being carelessly watched (sad but some people let their kids just run crazy in stores).
