If they have chocolate inside I want me some of those eggs! Those dark eggs are gorgeous, They MUST have chocolate inside.
I'm disappointed about those eggs.So far no golden or chocolate laying hens... but here’s hoping! I had eggs for lunch today, but of the Cadbury varietyWe did get the missing washers and nuts for the tractors, and I found a hasp that should work for my side doors, just bought the one to see how it works out. I had to take it out of the package and show long suffering DH how I mean to attach them. Ironically all my layers are in tractor #1, and #2 is the one with the working side door for the nesting boxes... which is currently full of my cockerels! Go figure.
We also got some good news on Andrew’s prospective job, it sounds quite promising, and as long as they don’t try to low ball him on the wage it should work out. They are working out their schedule and sound excited with his experience level, though I think the “over 25 years of customer service experience” line makes him sound a little old...
I have to say, we didn’t get nearly as much shopping done as I had hoped, but I’m ok with that as it was a very relaxing day, and I finally got my sushi supper... first one since last August. We saved enough money filling our gas tank that it basically covered the ferry fare. So what that we are on the late boat home? Mostly that means discreet ferry beverages, maybe a solid nap, and then quickly to bed.
I'm disappointed about those eggs.I had such hopes!
I love Cadbury eggs ~ the ones with the creme filling, yes? Yay for the job! Yep, petrol saving is on my to do list when I pick up chickens as I will take the island car over & fill it up w@ cheap mainland prices. My breeder has Campines & Blue layers! Yes!
I am excited about the Campines. I wanted them last time but they have a reputation for being flighty & I wanted a calm base flock, which my BAs & BRs are. Hopefully they will steady the new girls & hopefully some frizzles as well. It will depend a bit on what she has available ~ though I can always decide to go back...Great! They might not be chocolate, but they will be pretty eggs nonetheless! I think all my eggs are pretty though I’m sure I’m biasedI’m so proud of my girls, especially my little Sapphire girl “Princess”, I was shocked that she started laying so early, her 10 day younger sisters should be following suit soon as well. Yay for more chickens!!! And the Campines are so pretty
I can’t wait to see your pictures once you get them.
Old and needs 'to be paid more' along with 'can't be trained to our specifications'...that's what I ran into when looking for a job at age 50 with 20 years experience. Was tortuously frustrating. Ageism is rampant an unprovable as discrimination. Oops, sorry, old scab picked off and bleeding again. Best of Luck that Andrew(your DH?) gets a fair deal.We also got some good news on Andrew’s prospective job, it sounds quite promising, and as long as they don’t try to low ball him on the wage it should work out. Pretty specialized skills I would think, I would love to learn that.Luckily not much changes quickly in the meat industry, and real Butchers are becoming rare here... add in his training experience and he should be a good fit. Bonus: he can train the people who want to work there on how to do the cuts properly. Less waste, injures, and better efficiency.
