Which is awesome! What scares me is what I’ve seen your postal services do to packages. I’m sure the eggs start out fine, and that they have all the same kind treatment from the chicken people involved. It’s the random postie playing football with the packages despite fragile labeling that horrifies me! Sending positive thoughts to your incubator! And hoping your little Effie’s were handled with care through their journey! I’m sure there are plenty of just fine shipped egg stories out there... and we only read about the disastrous ones here because no one thinks anything of the good hatches.

I think some of it depend's on how well they were packed in the box, also. Some poeple use a better method than other's do. @Compost King has a good way of packing his. The box was in good condition, and none of the egg's were broken upon arrival.

I Talked to postal workers who told me that some of their fellow workers like to shake the packages that say fragile because they think its funny, particular young people with maturity issues but that's a small minority of them. When older folks see it they tell them to knock it off. He told me not to mark them fragile because no one is going to treat them any better because they are marked fragile and then the clowns who cause trouble because they find humorous won't see your package as a target . He also told me that most wear and tear comes from the automated sorting machines where packages could end up falling and landing on other packages causing a crushing situation so I started using bamboo branches to create a structure with in the package that prevents crushing and I also use this cheap dollar store material to make a box with in a box. This material is stiffer than cardboard but at the same time slightly soft so it can absorb shock. I have no idea what its called but its sold next to the poster board. I use those foam inserts that have holes cut out so I can just put the eggs in those. I tape non stick padding (same stuff I use for the floor of my incubators to prevent splayed legs) to the egg to prevent sliding out. To fill up space I wad up chairman toilet paper. Its heavy duty and soft. It ends up costing a lot but well packed eggs are more important to me than money.
I have received so many poorly packed boxes from Ebay. You can feel stuff rattling around inside the box as soon as you pick up.
Mine are packed so tight (with shock absorbing materials) that nothing inside the box is going to be moving around if the box were to be shook. People just slap their package to gather and out the door it goes. I realize people are trying to make money and cut corners on stuff but packaging eggs needs to be taken seriously.

What those people don't realise is packaging sells stuff. We do 2 ebay businesses & 1 reason they both do well is our packaging. It is fiddly & time consuming but the buyers appreciate it & in the long run it saves massive hassles.

I know if I ever did a hatching egg shipping business on eBay I would be taking pictures of my packaging and putting on my Ebay page because its more important than the pictures of the Parents. But that opinion is coming from someone who isn't really big on SOP but I am really big on the product showing up viable.

Thanks to @igorsMistress for taking this picture and posting it on her fugly farm thread, this is the unboxing of my packaging job. I want to start getting the bamboo branches straighter for better support but I do not have the best poking tool right now. Some of the filler packaging has been removed but you can see the stiff black material I put in on all 6 sides of the box. It keeps the sizes and corners form being crushed, the bamboo branches keep the middle from being crushed. You can see the no stick material wrapped around the eggs to hold them in place because the holes are a bit big for the smaller eggs.

All of the wood work in this house was us. I designed the kitchen too. https://www.redfin.com/VA/West-Springfield/7706-Harwood-Pl-22152/home/9773380 We did all of the cabinets, vanities and counter tops, except those that are stone. The baker's nook is a white maple butcher block and I inlaid dark walnut pie rings for working dough's and breads.

That's a beautiful design and very neat work rjohns. Very unique and clever too! Did you do the mouldings around the light fittings too? It's a lovely layout

I like to do the smaller 6 strand ones in three colors or six and find that If you do three colors of alternating single lines they get a little busy looking, especially with contrasting colors. The pinks purples and blues sold the best for us, and from a marketing standpoint the six strands are good because they only take me 1-1&1/2hrs, so I can do a lot of stock. We priced these ones at $3CAD. View attachment 1937017

I started out working from memory (brain still works? How many years (decades!!!) has it been since I did this last?) then turned to YouTube for inspiration and more complicated patterns. For the 12 strand I really like 3 or 5 colors, and prefer the black or white bordered chevron pattern. I even remembered this one too!View attachment 1937018View attachment 1937020

They take me about 3&1/2 hrs and we priced them at $5. I’ve got some more diamond patterns I’m going to try from you tube in the 12 strand size. I also like to finish the loops on these ones with a simple edge binding they stitch. A clipboard, embroidery needle and some scrap denim (from the hen saddles) keeps things neat and flat, and I loosely slip knot the excess threads out of the way when I stop for dinner, bed or chores; because well, CATS! This diamond pattern, from you tube, took closer to 6 hrs, and I don’t really like how it turned out... it was the only large bracelet that didn’t sell. Because I bought the inexpensive multi packs of threads (highly recommend this!) I’ve got some funky colors left over I’m trying to figure out, and “tie dye” multi colored threads as well. And I am sadly out of the more popular colors until the craft or dollar stores get more in (at $.73 per skein I’m not planning on buying the higher quality single threads for these projects!). That’s ok though, because once I’m done with this batch of shiny Christmas themed ones, (because the dollar store had a $1.25 8 pack of glitter thread) and a few more 12 strands I’m going to focus on some Christmas colored crochet coasters for the Nov 30th market.

I bought the Klutz friendship bracelet book some time ago when the kids were in primary school. I still have it. It has very easy to follow instructions.
