I’ve gotten too attached to the chickens... and I plan on outliving him, or winning the lottery and buying my own hobby farm (one of those is more likely than the other!). I know that sounds just awful... but I’m trying to focus on my long term goals

I'll be awful with you. Here's hoping he steps in a rabbit hole in the mean time and is laid up in bed until the house is at lock up stage. Or, if you want to be nicer, he wins a six month holiday to somewhere far away, like Japan or Antarctica!

Or.... you win the lottery and take your chooks with you to your new hobby farm!

Sounds like the concrete is coming tomorrow at 10am... hopefully I have a good update for you all by end of day.

Precious seems to have done ok today, despite all the missing feathers and short rations. I’m going to have some very happy chickens tomorrow when they go back to their regular (higher protein) brand of feed. The feed store again suggested I buy a full pallet, saving a buck a bag, and they even store it there for you. I’m definitely game for that come spring and meat bird season... or as soon as I have enough spare cash on hand.

I hope the concrete got poured without any further incidents

We got most of the concrete. I bit my tongue and there were no incidents, Except that FIL miscalculated how much and we were about two yards short. No he did not say 7 meters, he said 7 yards... he never speaks in metric measurements, but whatever. I also use shovels and rakes wrong, and can’t do anything right. He just wouldn’t be happy unless he got to make us hand mix a bunch of concrete. It’s sitting in the back of our truck because Andrew is working on the other island today. Hopefully I can get some pictures soon when it is done.

I want to give everyone a heads up I might be offline for a while, issues with the cellular plan, and I’m probably going to lose connection tomorrow. I will try to stop by the Farm more often so I can use the WiFi there to keep in touch, but it’s not a comfortable place for me to spend time, so I’m not sure how much I will be around in the next few months.

Thanks for letting us know. it's always concerning when internet friends disappear without explanation ~ especially when there are known *issues*. Glad the cement is as good as done.
