Thanks everyone, I feel like I’ve been quite the bad news bear for a bit... and though it’s really disheartening to have them passing away, there’s really not much I can do for some of them. @BY Bob I reckon you hit the nail on the head with the Sapinglitis call. I think I’ve found the chicken who was laying the lash eggs (though I only found two small ones, it is possible there were more that were eaten
) I will make her as comfortable as I can and if she seems to be suffering too greatly then I will hasten her end as mercifully as possible. She has looked on and off less than vibrant the last few months, which I was attributing to her molting, and has taken a
Steep decline the last week or two. She is only 3 years old. She is also one of the girls with the worst underbite. She will feast on eggs and tuna, chick starter mash, and as many mealy worms as I can give her until her time comes.
Today was a fairly good day overall, after chicken chores we went to the other side of the island and I got some gardening done, my water jugs filled, and all set for Andrew to leave for work until Wednesday or Thursday. I’ve made up our Sausage and Chicken take out menus, and we will be all set for deliveries on Thursday, as Andrew will be working on Friday and Saturday as well here.
