Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

So, Sammy has lost another GF... Hoppy is now rooming with my latest rescue in the Barn. They are getting on well, and the new girl has perked up a lot with the company. From now on I think I will rescue the farm chickens in pairs, unless there’s one in severe distress like this girl was for the first few days.

I moved the littles up into the brooder in my barn, which I’ve spent the last two days working on. It’s much more solid, still not perfect, but better by far. Still haven’t talked with the farm manager about using the space for the fall, but last year there were only about 20 bales in that side, so I’m hoping it will work out. I’m leaning towards that saying about forgiveness being easier to obtain than permission... ;)

Hopefully I can post more pictures of the cuties now that they are in my general area. For the meantime here they are in their new digs :)

220 bales in... and no complaints about my annexing of the smaller half of the barn near my trailer for my chickens! :D Our swather broke (I think for the last time), the baler has been acting up, the three point hitch on one of our tractors also broke (when the swather did, thank Father-in-law!) luckily our Tedder has a rake attachment that can also swath. So it’s just going to be a slow season. I’m planning my next batch of meat chicks...

My raccoon is back, with three friends, so the meat tractors are coming closer to my trailer ASAP. Tomorrow is Market day, so it will be another long one. Cats are good, Whisper is recovering slowly, but steadily. I need to sift and feed my mealworms soon. Basically I’m stupid busy and exhausted... one more week to go!:barnie

I feel for you. I have 2 out of 3 boys here & it's insane! :( Love them to bits but they can create more chaos than anyone else I know ~ partly because they never answer their phones & I get anxious wives ringing me asking about the whereabouts of their men. I am not their keeper...

That's a good amount of hay. Nice accomplishment. Sounds like the equipment needs some upgrading and/or attention before the next time. Glad you got it done successfully.
