I decided to just set the five dozen eggs in two incubators, about evenly divided. I put all the Barnvelder/hy-line or ISA eggs and the ones sired by Chickie Hawk into one incubator, the eggs from Sammy and the guy I’m hatching for into the second. I have to say I’m most impressed by his Barnvelder/Ameraucana mix, they lay nice large green eggs. Here are his eggs all from his Barnvelder Rooster : top row all Ameraucana; 2nd: Hy-line, Barnvelder/Ameraucana, Ameraucana, Barnvelder/Ameraucana, Ameraucana; 3rd: Hy, B/A, A, B/A; 4th: Chantelacer, B/A, A, B/A, Speckled Sussex, 5th: 2 Chantelacer, 3 Speckled Sussex. Some were not what I would consider for hatching myself... the Chantelacer eggs are quite oblong, one almost looks body checked.
Here they are with Sammy’s girls added in:
And here are the ones from the Farmer with my Barnvelder Rooster and Chickie Hawks girls
So here we go again!
The Prolapse seems to be getting less swollen, which is good news I think, but she just keeps laying even with the limited light and popping it back out throughout the day. I’m not giving up on her just yet! In other good news the concrete supplier is coming out this weekend to look at the site and give us a date for delivery, so the house may finally get going! Also I set up our 10x10 shade tent over our generator to keep the water out of it this fall and give me a slightly less sun scorched spot to work on things in.
