Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

Ideally the chickens would be on the ground floor, but we are putting the wheelchair accessible main floor master (not an in-law suite, for zoning purposes!) on the main floor, and I got my reading habit from my mom, but she doesn’t share my chicken enthusiasm. So distance from Chickies will be required  I’m not exactly looking forward to hauling supplies up the stairs for them. But real indoor plumbing and a kitchen you can fit two people in at once? Heaven...

Maybe you will need a small elevator to bring the supplies upstairs?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around your plans. It's a bit like looking @ high school math equations ~ my brain starts scrambling, then melts....

If I lived in a house that big, I'd have to put up some kind of sign's with arrow's to tell me what room was in what direction, so that I wouldn't get lost in there! :lau

I guess that means that you can't turn the den, or just the walk-in closet into the chicken room? Maybe sound proof that wall? :D

Edit after looking more closely at the plans: Ooh! Extend the walk-in closet to the space under the stairs to make a brooder room and hatchery with shelves!

I’m thinking a laundry chute and a dumbwaiter somehow once the building inspector is out of my hair. Edit to add: @Aussie-Chookmum you read my mind and beat me to the post! :p

Sorry, it’s the only one I could find and it has a lot of details that are unnecessary...

It’s not that big!

Basically it’s an open kitchen, dining , and living room the main floor bedroom and en-suite left of the front door, library right of it, the staircase and powder room, with the laundry/side door between the kitchen and bedroom. Top floor is the master bedroom, a guest room on the south wall and the chicken brooding and a craft/office room

I'm glad that you read book's and will have a library in the house. It seem's that some of the bookstores, and library's might become obsolete, with so many of those who do read buying the stuff they can just read online.

It’s just not the same as the feel of a real book... I do also read online, but prefer hard copies

I agree. I love the feel of a book in my hand. I converted my old office to a library two years ago and I love having all the books out and organized. Along with a nice chair for reading.
