Your resilience is... Well, it's wonderful.
I agree!! Washing the chairs in the rain... brilliant!! And Kris.. about bathing outdoors... I say go for itShe is way more tolerant and resourceful than I would be. Kristen is a special lady.
Thanks for all the love guys! I’d like to think I’m tolerant and patient and resilient... but mostly I’m just slightly sanity challenged, stubborn, and more stubborn. My family will all vouch for that, guaranteed!
Love his nameSo all last night I was awake listening to “Idjet” the calf bawling in the field next to the trailer for his mama... he has trouble with gates, which is how he picked up his name. It took three people and his mother, and several hours to get him through a gate once. It wasn’t that hard, I mean all the other calves, cows, and even our special needs calf “Rosebud” managed to walk through the 12’ wide open gate on the road just fine. He would just run right past it along the fence line, or turn around and bolt in another direction at the last minute. Then he would try to go through the fence. Even with his mother Rowena leading him (when she realized he was missing and went back for him) it took four tries for him to follow her through, you could actually see how frustrated mama was with him!
He just didn’t follow her out last night when she decided to head over to the rest of the herd in some nicer pasture, so this morning Rowena came back to pick him up, with her buddy Blondie and her calf (the black one). They hung out in the field for a bit together then Rowena patiently herded the little guy out, and Blondie followed. But they left the other calf in the field and went off towards the greener pasturesHe realized he was alone, but mama was already out the eastern gate, through the south one to the other section, and a full field and a half back to the west, and calling for him to follow
so I spent most of this morning trying to herd the skittish boy out the gate in the opposite direction of his mama calling him, and when he finally gets through, he veers North to the road instead of South towards mom
apparently the idiocy is contagious.
He will be just fine, he will either join the part of the herd that’s hanging out on the road or head out to the Clearing at the point, or maybe go back to the trailer to wait for mom... they can be quite smart and always manage to find each other, but they can also be oh, so dumb when it comes to some things! I tied the gate up behind him, so no more getting trapped in the small square field for anyone for a while! Here’s the Idjet and Rowena, finally figuring out the gates
