We get New Zealand Lamb here commercially for the most part, which is pretty good, and Wholefoods also carries Icelandic Lamb as well. Local Is harder to come by... in the big grocery stores that is. Smaller butcher shops are more likely to carry a local product, though I don’t think there’s a lot of that in your area @BlueBaby[/

I look in our local Craig's List here and somebody must have some, because every now and then someone is trying to sell sheep, but for the most part people are selling goat's.

d @BY Bob ... this one’s for you. Not so Fluffy Butts after all! I wonder if she’s getting cold back there? Auntie Marans is molting, and apparently none of my girls read the books on how chickens are supposed to molt (because no, they don’t seem to be doing it “properly”)

Yes, and the girls in Mr Marans pen tend to roost as far apart from each other as possible too. No wonder I’m not getting any dark eggs right now! The fluff is there, it’s just still stuck in the sheaths for now. Porcupine bum... I almost renamed her, but I just doesn’t have the right ring to it. I still have a ton of catchup reading over on your thread again @BY Bob, but I have been fairly occupied with winter prep here.

Today I got the hospital tractor 3/4 of the way it needs to move to accommodate my new chicks at the end of this week. It’s now parked completely in the way of the Jeep, but I’m done for the day! We can back the car up tonight and it’ll be fine. I also did a bunch of general grounds clean-up and organizing, and I raided FIL’s “lumber piles” looking for enough regularish materials to get a tractor and a “chickshaw” a-la Justin Rhodes out of it for winter housing. That has to be a priority because the meat tractors are not ok for winter, and we are starting to get some freezing temperatures... with lows of -1 Celsius predicted for the coming week.

I do not want freezing temperatures yet. I love fall and want it to hang on through the end of November. I want to keep the littles innocent of snow as long as I can.
