Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

Good morning Kris :frow
Good Morning Bob! :frow

@BY Bob Should name a rooster Dargo, right? ;)

I'll be starting lock-down on my hatch in a couple more day's. It look's like the weather is going to behave for me today, so I can go out there and separate the cockerel's from the pullet's that are out there in one of the grow-out pen's.

We had pre-dawn torrential rain this morning, but it has now settled into a bright sunny day that the chickens are loving! And I awoke to an unsusal sound, shots fired a little closer to the trailer than I like when I’m not fully awake. I’m hoping they don’t get too many of my favorite goats on this trip, and hoping that FIL is going to have them do some framing in the house. And only a few more days until Cuba. So :fl

Ack!!! Trekkies (or is Trekkers the more PC term? :p ) D&D nerds, and card players... however did we all end up on the same threads I wonder? And of course we are all clearly Chicken Addicts as well. Ok how many people here have done a big sci-fi con??? Fess up:lau DH and I bonded over our mutual nerdiness at work discussing DragonCon and here we are over 10 years later...

I was raised on Star Wars, Star Trek, and classic sci-fi/fantasy novels. How many 10-12 year olds read Herbert, Hubbard, Heinlein, Asimov, Lovecraft, and McCaffrey for a start. My very first book I read all on my own was David Eddings at 9-10 years old. I blame my mother 100%

Oh dear, I’m a science fiction, fantasy, DnD, gaming and chicken (obviously) fan too.

I have found my people! No wonder we all get along so famously here!

P.S. To the Anne McCaffrey fans. Do you think we like chickens because they are the closest we can get to dragons or fire lizards in our world?

I don't know about that. Maybe we like chickens because they will eat the lizard's?

That is possible... I do see many alarming similarities, except for the feathers.... hmmmm
Something to bring up at a con panel? Or would I get booed out of the room? Since Anne passed it hasn’t been the same, sadly... and I’m not a huge fan of her sons writing.

Well swing as Bob isn’t likely to keep a Roo, one of us will probably have to take this on for him!
