The chickens we keep outside live in a sound building and have a heated base on the water. And the 2 Roosters have really bad frost bitten combs. That below zero was too much. I believe they need to have a building to go to.

I agree, Mine have a building to go in, but it has a side that is open. Almost all of my roosters have frostbit combs. You could use something like a doghouse, if you only plan on getting a few chickens.

Pop57 has too many chickens at the moment (120 and thats after losing a few to a hawk

Well, I finally pitched the 31 eggs in the bator last night. They had all stopped at some point in their development. I don't know if I operated the bator wrong, or what else happened to cause it, but I can't blame the people I got the eggs from. I might not have had the correct humidity as a couple of times I discovered it had run dry.

Both of them have offered to replace the eggs with either more eggs or chicks later on.

However the 7 babies that I kept from the order from Ideal are getting HUGE!

At 2 1/2 weeks these babies are gonna need a much bigger brooder than the one I have them in.

Yesterday I put together one of the short panels and the long panel to start building the run, going to have to get some more clips to put the others together to finish it. I raked up all the leaves in the yard and put them in the run area to start composting and will add some dirt and straw to it to form a base in the run.
