Cochins are still for sale. Buyer fell through. Pm me if interested. Thanks!
Thanks Sandiklaws! How might one trim a Cochin bootie?? Scissors??
They will be pretty young still to show. Cochins are a slow maturing breed. The birds closest to SOP for ideal blue will be your uniformly dark ones With lacing, check carefully for any odd colored feathers, as those will be marked down or disqualified. If you have one that seems better than the others, separate it, bathe it, and spoil it with high protein food/treats and super clean quarters from now til show day. It won't be old enough to truly compete in conformation, but if she is just doing showmanship it will be in good condition and show well for her if she works with it regarding handling.Hello, I bought my daughter some cochin chicks for her 4-H project. They are now three months old and I still have no real idea who are hens, and who are roosters! And the fair is in four weeks. I bought some whites and blue Cochins from Ideal Hatchery. So I'm not expecting high show quality. Just something she could take to the fair. Question one, am I correct that only the really light blue is what they call splash, or is the bird that is medium blue, in between the dark blue and splash, actually splash also? As there is one splash, one what I call medium blue, and then the rest are dark blue. At least that is what I'm thinking at this point. And since I bought them straight run, is it simply going to be impossible for me to know at this age who is rooster, and who is hen? She really wants to show the medium blue bird, and I'm leaning towards hen on that one. Anyhow, thank you for any info given, pictures to follow!![]()

Anyone selling any hatching eggs or live near east tn and selling chicks? I am having a hard time finding LF cochin in my area and really want a few. Thanks
ThanksYou and me both. I too am in east tn. I have been asking everyone this weekend and hardly a reply. None helpful
I got ahold of memes poultry in AL and she ships eggs for good price. I'll be hatching them starting Wednesday or Thursday.
I sure would have liked to have someone from here sell me a roo or even eggs. I only was two unrelated blue Roos for a project.
If I get a good hatch and you can't find any let me know. I'll hopefully have extras
