She likes them. She's not really sure what to do with all these horribly deformed chicks, but she does choose to stay with them as opposed to the flock

Indeed it does! Or rather, it makes the white pattern. The color of the other feathers is affected by color genes, so it could be black like that, or it could be any other color.

I always forget they have like 30 colors I always just think white, Mallard, BBS, chocolate, buff and whatever magpies are

More than 30, haha. Calls alone come in more colors than that.

We officially have a racoon. Found paw prints in the mud this morning and found what was left of Foghorn, our White Orpington male under the barn. We set the traps and secured the roamers that we could, so let's hope tomorrow we have one waiting for us

Leading theory is that this is where Mrs. Reynolds went missing and what happened to the cochin male two nights ago or so. The lack of chaos and excess destruction of birds had thrown me off the scent, but the paw prints couldn't possibly be from anything other than a racoon
